In the past few few weeks I have watched Summer Wars. Great movie.
Then I finished Eden of the East. Great show. And now I’m patiently waiting to watch the movies.
Both are really good. Great English voices, very nice animation, interesting storylines, and sprinkled with advanced technology in a much more realistic manner than something like Ghost in a Shell.
Funimation is on a role lately. And now I guess I’ll catch up on Naruto via Hulu. I wonder what will be the next anime that catches my attention?

Through watching anime I have come across three characters that all happen to be Captains and all have very similar characteristics.
The first I encountered was Robotech’s Captain Henry J. Gloval
The next character is Catain Nemo from Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. At First I thought that Nemo and Gloval were the same person.
The third, Captain Harlock is seen in many shows from artist Leiji Matsumoto. He doesn’t look as much like the other two but to me still gives off the same vibe.
There is another character that I can think of but I will wait to bring up that one.
Edit: I just discovered that this other character that I was thinking of actually pays homage to Captain Harlock.
Simon, From Gurren Lagann is the above mentioned reference to Captain Harlock
The Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze from the Naruto Series.

After getting back from PAX East in the city of Boston I spent this past week learning how to do my job again, watching Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, played a little Red Steel 2, had a few drinks, went the Pageant, met a cute girl I’ll never see again, tried God of War, didn’t like it and instead played some Shadow of the Colossus.
I have great new games like Red Steel 2, Cave Story, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Warioware DIY, and Pokemons; but I am not feeling compelled to play any of them. I did power though Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon last week. Fragile was just over flowing with atmosphere and could not stop playing it until I was done.
Last night I went to the Pageant to see Tegan and Sara with Amanda, but we ended up leaving after the opening band because Amanda wasn’t felling good. I was a bit bummed because I was flirting with this girl, and overall having a good time. I need to go out more because I like being around people. After I got back I hung out with Chris and sort of watched Evil Dead 3 and Out Cold.
This morning I stayed in bed far to long, and then tried to play God of War. I played 15 minutes of it and was done. I do not like God of War, but since I had my PS2 hooked up I played a little of Shadow of the Collosus. Now that is a great game, my favorite PS2 game. On a side note, many Playstation 2 games have not aged well.
I just read on the Nadia wikipedia page that Hayao Miyazaki came up with the concept which must be why I like the premise, it’s too bad the show suffers badly with early 90’s anime syndrome. Gainax should completely redo that after the are done with the Eva Rebuild.
I’m going to go draw for a bit, should post something new soon.

Today was a great day! It started off like any other day of recent times for me, I started by not wanting to get out of bed but I knew there was something important to do. So I waited until I had just enough time to run one errand before going to work. That one errand was to mail off a Pokémon sticker book to Lass Molly (Pokémon trainer joke, and also very much lame). But mailing that sticker book was not in the cards for me.
And you may be thinking that, these events so far are not leading up to a day that sounds amazing, but you would be, correct. After going to work I aptly downloaded the Pikachu colored Pichu, awesome number 1. Work was okay, nothing fantastic happened, but then again nothing absolutely terrible happened either. After work I decided to stop by my friend Chris’ house to watch this anime that he has been raving about. I haven’t been keeping up on my anime very well lately so I was a little excited.
Little did I know that the show he was talking about would end up being one of coolest shows I will ever see in all of my life! The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya! I would have watched the entire first season tonight but Chris wanted to sleep, what a loser. I also txted Vanessa with why I though of as an absolutely brilliant text message. Even our small txtversation we had tonight is still making me smile and have that intense nervousness that turns my stomach all into knots; that I haven’t felt in so very long.
All of this made my day amazing, and led me to two outbursts that I hope will affect how the rest of my life will pan out (a little extreme?). Tonight while watching the antics of the SOS Brigade and txting Vanessa I yelled out, “Why don’t shows like this get made in America?” and “Why am I not making shows like this in America?” After all that IS what I want to be doing.
So starting tomorrow, which is actually today I plan on doing something real towards my on of my many life goal; to be a world renowned writer/animator.
Well I am emotionally exhausted (out of shape) so I should sleep well and dream good.
